EMA - Boa noite, o meu nome é Ema e é com imenso prazer que irei conduzir esta entrevista. Sr. Van Gogh, de que país é originário?

EMA - Good evening, my name is Emma and it is with great pleasure that I will conduct this interview. Mr. Van Gogh, what country do you originate from?

V.V. - Antes de mais quero agradecer o convite. Agora respondendo à sua questão, eu sou dos Países Baixos, Holanda.

V.V. - First of all, I want to thank you for the invitation. Now answering your question, I am from the Netherlands, Holland.

EMA - O seu nome Van Gogh, é o seu verdadeiro nome?

EMA - Is your name Van Gogh your real name?

V.V. - Sim! O meu nome completo é Vincent Willem Van Gogh, mas para

uso artístico utilizo apenas o apelido.

V.V. - Yes! My full name is Vincent Willem Van Gogh, but for artistic use only use the nickname.

EMA - Sabemos que a sua mãe tinha uma veia artística. Foi dela que herdou o seu talento e interesse pelas artes?

EMA - We know your mother had an artistic vein. Has she inherited your talent and interest in the arts?

V.V. - Bem… sou filho de um pastor protestante e apaixonado pelas escrituras, e aos 16 anos trabalhei numa livraria a traduzir a Bíblia, durante apenas seis meses. Lia a Bíblia todos os dias, passei a conhece-la decore.

V.V. "Well ... I'm the son of a Protestant pastor and passionate about the scriptures, and at the age of 16 I worked in a bookstore to translate the Bible for only six months. I read the Bible every day, I came to know it.

EMA - Uma das suas grandes obras é «Girassóis», em que se inspirou para o pintar?

EMA - One of his great works is "Sunflowers", in which he was inspired to paint it?
V.V. - A minha grande inspiração foi a vida simples e camponesa quando cheguei ao sul de França.

V.V. "My great inspiration was simple, peasant life when I came to the south of France.

A Casa Amarela de 1888: o olhar do pintor sobre a casa em Arles onde viveu com o pintor e amigo Gauguin /The Yeelow House - 1888: the painter's gaze on the house in Arles where he lived with the painter and friend Gauguin.

EMA - Algumas das suas obras como: «Noite Estrelada», «Vista de Arles com Lírios», «A casa Amarela», «Campos de Trigo com Corvos» e até mesmo «Girassóis», entre outros, percebe-se que utiliza imenso a cor amarela. Qual a razão?

EMA - Some of his works such as "Starry Night", "View of Arles with Lilies", "The Yellow House", "Fields of Wheat with Crows" and even "Sunflowers", among others, the color yellow. What is the reason?

V.V. - Eu sofro de uma doença chamada: epilepsia e talvez devido à

medicação, eu só via a cor amarela durante algum tempo, ou seja,

sofro de um tipo de daltonismo . Mas ainda bem, porque com esta

disfunção, acabei por fazer alguns dos meus melhores quadros.

V.V. - I suffer from a disease called: epilepsy and perhaps due to

medication, I only saw the yellow color for some time, that is,

I suffer from a type of color blindness. But still good, because with this

dysfunction, I ended up doing some of my best pictures.

EMA - O que o levou a cortar a orelha esquerda?

V.V. - Pois… tenho que admitir que foi um momento de pouca

lucidez da minha parte. Num discurso com o meu colega e amigo

Gauguin, sobre ele estar apaixonado pela minha amada Rachel.

Então perdi a razão e quando me apercebi já tinha cortado a

orelha e oferecido à Rachel.

V.V. - Well ... I have to admit it was a little while ago lucidity on my part. In a speech with my colleague and friend Gauguin, about him being in love with my beloved Rachel.

So I lost my reason and when I realized I had already ear and offered to Rachel.

EMA - What made you cut the left ear?

Vincent Willem Van Gogh foi um pintor holandês

nascido em 30 de Março de 1853, considerado um

dos artistas mais influentes dos últimos tempos,

embora o seu reconhecimento se tenha dado apenas

depois de sua morte. Enquanto vivo vendeu apenas

um quadro - “A Vinha vermelha”.

Vincent Willem Van Gogh was a Dutch painter born on 30 March 1853, considered one of the most influential artists of recent times, although his recognition was given only after his death. While alive he sold only one painting - "The Red Vine".

Van Gogh nunca imaginou a fama que viria a ter.

Era filho de Theodorus Van Gogh e Anna Cornelia Carbentus.

Tinha quatro irmãos mais novos , mas foi com Theo , segundo filho do

casal, que Van Goh estabeleceu uma forte relação marcada por cartas

trocadas entre os dois.

Theo que era um negociador de arte de pouca visibilidade, apesar de

pobre, sempre incentivou e ajudou financeiramente seu irmão mais

velho.

Com a saúde mental debilitada e acessos de loucura, pôs fim a própria

vida em julho de 1890 aos 37 anos.

Van Gogh never imagined the fame he would have.

He was the son of Theodorus Van Gogh and Anna Cornelia Carbentus. He had four younger brothers, but it was with Theo, the couple's second son, that Van Gogh established a strong relationship marked by letters exchanged between the two. Theo who was an art negotiator of poor visibility, though poor, has always encouraged and financially helped his older brother.

With weakened mental health and madness, he ended his life in July 1890 at age 37.

Embora desenhasse desde criança, começou a pintar relativamente

tarde, no entanto soma mais de 800 telas. Entre as suas pinturas mais

conhecidas estão: Os Comedores de batatas; Caveira com cigarro

acesso; A ponte Debaixo de Chuva; Natureza morta com absinto; A

italiana; A casa amarela; Retrato do Dr. Gachet; Girassóis; Vista de

Arles com Lírios; Noite Estrelada.

Although he had been drawing since he was a child, he started to paint

relatively late, but he added more than 800 canvases. Among his best-

known paintings are: The Potato Eaters; Skull with cigarette access;

The Bridge Under Rain; Still Life with Absinthe; The Italian; The yellow

house; Portrait of Dr. Gachet; Sunflowers; View of Arles with Lilies;

Starry Night.
